Pyroclastix - Live Destruction: Halloween, 1997, Syracuse, New York

And now for the final installment in my trilogy of live posts this week.

Pyroclastix were a whole other animal live than on the "studio" recordings. It's just as intense, but a lot creepier with a lot of screaming and an eerie, empty feel to the overall sound. This is the last Pyroclastix release I have and it's definitely a high note in noise-master Brian Magar's catalog.

It's only one track that's just over 26 minutes.

Pyroclastix - Stripped

When I found my Pyroclastix tapes, I remembered liking this one the best. Listening to it over ten years later, I know why. These two tracks are well thought-out and excellently executed, but harsh, violent, dark and disturbing, especially "Burn," a 36+ minute noise collage that's a truly impressive work of art.

Stripped is a true classic of underground DIY noise and it makes me happy to post it here for you.

From what I remember, I "met" Brian Magar on AOL and, since we shared a love of underground noise, we traded tapes.

Brian was making noise on computers before Merzbow and, while I've never been a fan of computer noise, Brian's has always amazed me, mainly because it sounds organic despite being digital.

MPAE and Imbalance ended up having a brief alliance that culminated in the Experimental Dentistry comp. Good times.

I eventually met Brian Magar briefly in a fast food joint in PA and he was supercool.
